Authorities Monday released the name of a wheelchair-using woman killed in a hit-and-run collision in Santa Ana.

The victim was identified as 55-year-old Sabrina Michelle Duran, who was transient, according to Orange County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Gerard McCann.

Duran was struck by a car at about 6:30 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of North Grand Avenue, police said. She was rushed to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Duran was crossing west on Grand when she was struck by the vehicle. The driver left the scene, but later returned and cooperated with investigators and was not arrested, police said.

It will be left up to prosecutors whether the driver faces charges.

Anyone who saw the collision was asked to call investigators at 714-245-8224 or 714-245-8200.
