A six-vehicle collision prompted multiple lane closures along Interstate 15 in the Escondido area early Tuesday, snarling traffic during the morning rush.
The crash was reported around 5:48 a.m. Tuesday on southbound I-15 north of Via Rancho Parkway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials said southbound I-15 was at “a crawl” from SR-78 to Via Rancho Parkway. The far left lane and both HOV lanes were blocked until the last vehicle was loaded onto a tow truck, they added. The Del Lago carpool onramp to the southbound I-15 was also shut down by Caltrans, but reopened shortly afterward.
The scene has been cleared with all lanes reopened, the CHP said.
No injuries were immediately reported, and the cause of the crash was unclear.
