The Waterford Police Department is investigating the deaths of a Waterford Township couple in their 90s from what appears to be a murder-suicide, officials said.
Police responded to a home on Crescent Road at around 6 p.m. Wednesday on a report of two people dead inside the residence, according to Waterford Police Chief Scott Underwood.
A 97-year-old woman and 96-year-old man were found seated in the living room with fatal gunshot wounds, Underwood stated in a news release.
A handgun was recovered from the scene, he stated.
A preliminary investigation indicates murder-suicide, Underwood stated.
Detectives determined that both had “extensive” medical histories, Underwood stated. No other information, including the names of the couple, has been released yet.
Autopsies were scheduled for Thursday by the Oakland County Medical Examiner.
