Long Beach police are investigating a shooting in North Long Beach that left a man dead Monday night.

Authorities say the man was in the 2300 block of East Artesia Boulevard around 7:28 p.m. when an unknown suspect shot him.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel took the victim to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to authorities.

Police did not release the identity of the victim.

The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival, police said.

The LBPD said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
