HERE? ARE SO MANY GROUPS AND PEOPLE THAT ARE WORKING TO SOLVE THE HOMELESS CRISIS. THE GOAL HERE WOULD BE TO BRING THOSE MINDS TOGETHER AND KEEP FROM DUPLICATING EFFORTS, AND REALLY TRY AND COORDINATE THE WORK. SO WHAT THEY ARE HOPING TO DO IS CREATE ONE PLACE WHERE ELECTED LEADERS FROM DIFFERENT CITIES AND THE COUNTY CAN GET TOGETHER IN PUBLIC MEETINGS. IT WOULD GIVE RESIDENTS ONE PLACE TO LOOK FOR ACCOUNTABILITY WHEN IT COMES TO THE HOMELESS CRISIS IN SACRAMENTO COUNTY, THE COUNTY HAS SOMETHING SIMILAR. RIGHT NOW. IT’S CALLED THE CONTINUUM OF CARE, BUT IT’S CURRENTLY RUN BY A NONPROFIT. THIS CHANGE WOULD KEEP THAT STRUCTURE, BUT PUT A MAJORITY OF ELECTED OFFICIALS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS MAKING THE DECISIONS. THIS IS REALLY ABOUT DRAWING THE WORK THAT HAPPENS THERE CLOSER AND BETTER COLLABORATION WITH THE WORK THAT’S HAPPENING AT THE CITY OF SACRAMENTO, ALL THE CITIES AND THE COUNTY. AND THE SACRAMENTO CITY COUNCIL DISCUSSED IT AT LENGTH TONIGHT. THEY ASKED THE CITY MANAGER TO COME BACK WITH THE FRAMEWORK FOR A JOINT POWERS AUTHORITY AND WHAT IT WOULD LOOK LIKE. SO THEY’RE THE FIRST OF SIX DIFFERENT CITIES IN THE COUNTY TO DISCUSS THIS. ALSO SET TO DISCUSS IT IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS HERE RANCHO CORDOVA CITRUS HEIGHTS ELK GROVE, GALT AND FOLSOM. THEY WILL HAVE THE CHANCE TO WEIGH IN BEFORE ANY OF THIS IS FINALIZED. LIVE IN SACRAMENTO COUNTY, PEYTON HEADLEE KCRA THREE NEWS. YEAH, IT’S AN ISS
