Police say a woman was killed and a man critically injured in a Wednesday night shooting on Evergreen Street. No suspect information has been released.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — One woman was killed and a man was critically injured in a shooting Tuesday night in Sacramento, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting just before 8:45 p.m. in the 2200 block of Evergreen Street. When they arrived, police said they found two victims, each suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

An adult female victim was pronounced dead at the scene by fire personnel. An adult male victim was transported to a hospital, where he remains in extreme critical condition, police said.

Due to the circumstances, detectives from the department’s homicide unit and crime scene investigators have taken over the investigation. 

Police said they are processing the scene, collecting evidence and speaking with witnesses. No suspect information has been released at this time.
