A fan vote was held to determine the name of Long Beach’s new minor league baseball team.
The result? Two names.
The team announced Tuesday night in a press release that the new name will be the Long Beach Coast.

The name is a tribute to the city’s eleven miles of coastline that tie the East Side and West Side together.
“Where ocean meets concrete, hustle meets chill and old school roots meet new school energy…the Long Beach Coast celebrates the connective thread that runs through every part of the city,” the team’s press release reads. “The Coast will anchor the team’s visual identity and presence, complemented by a dynamic alter ego.”
That alter ego? The Long Beach Regulators.
That name, of course, is derived from Long Beach native Warren G’s song “Regulate,” a West Coast hip-hop classic with the late Nate Dogg. Warren G himself endorsed the name.

“Long Beach has always set its own tone and had its own swagger,” he said in the press release. “This baseball team, the Coast, represents the heart of the city – but the Regulators legacy will always be part of Long Beach culture. It’s respect for where we’ve been and excitement for where we’re going.”

Team officials further explained that, while the Coast will be the team’s primary on-field identity, the alter ego is an homage to LBC’s roots as a modern-day cultural hotspot.
“The Regulators alter ego taps into Long Beach’s legendary ’90s hip-hop roots, unlocking superhero-level moments, bold creative collaborations, fan-powered energy and one-of-a-kind in-season activations,” the team’s press release said.

Confused? The KTLA Morning News team was also a bit tripped up on the double name; however, KTLA meteorologist Henry DiCarlo compared it to the L.A. Angels also being called by their nickname of the “Halos,” which seemed to be the most accurate comparison.

The club’s visual identity, dominated by a bright teal colorway, was created by Francisco “Never Made” Reyes, a designer with deep Long Beach roots; the team says his creation adds “an authentic local voice and credibility to the brand.”
So, what’s next for the Coast?
They are moving full steam ahead with their hard launch, as they have scheduled a brand kickoff event during Long Beach’s Martin Luther King Jr. Parade and Celebration on Jan. 17.

In addition, there will also be another brand kickoff event on Jan. 31 at WatchMe! Sports Bar.
Starting in the 2026 season, the Long Beach Coast (Regulators) will play at Blair Field as part of the Pioneer Baseball League, which is an MLB Partner League that operates independently across the West Coast.
