LONG BEACH — Police sought the public’s assistance Wednesday in locating a person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Long Beach last summer.

The shooting occurred shortly before 8 p.m. June 27, 2025, in the 5400 block of Paramount Boulevard, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Responding officers found a man — later identified as Dajion Hunter, 34 — with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. Police said the killing may have stemmed from a robbery.

Homicide detectives on Wednesday released surveillance video taken moments before the shooting, showing a person walking in the area. The man has been named a person of interest police would like to interview.

The person was described as a man between 20 and 30 years old, wearing a light blue or teal hat, a red shirt, a light-colored hooded sweater, blue jeans and black shoes.

Police said detectives believe the man may have ties to the Northpointe Apartments in the 5400 block of Paramount Boulevard.
