WILBERFORCE, Ohio – No. 2 Long Beach State men’s volleyball continued its dominant start to the 2026 season with a straight-sets victory over Central State on Wednesday afternoon, earning a 25-14, 25-10, 25-20 sweep at Beacom/Lewis Gym. With the win, the Beach improved to 3-0 on the season and have yet to drop a set through their first three matches.

Long Beach State seized control early in the opening set, using a decisive 20-9 run to turn a tight early score into a commanding advantage. The Beach closed the frame on a 12-3 stretch, fueled by aggressive serving and a disciplined block, to take a 25-14 lead and set the tone for the match.

Offensively, Long Beach State delivered its most efficient performance of the season, hitting .577 as a team with just three attack errors on 52 total swings. The Beach also held Central State to a .103 hitting percentage, controlling the match in all three phases.

Braedon Marquardt led a balanced offensive effort with nine kills on 10 errorless attempts, hitting .900. Wojciech Gajek added six kills on .500 hitting, while Myles Jordan finished with six kills on nine swings (.556). Skyler Varga contributed four kills and four service aces, continuing his strong all-around play.

Setter Jake Pazanti guided the offense efficiently, recording 17 assists while leading the Beach to sideout percentages of 92 percent in the first set and 90 percent in the second.

Long Beach State carried its momentum into set two, opening a large cushion early and cruising to a 25-10 win. Central State mounted its strongest push in the third set, but No. 2 Long Beach State responded with timely blocks and transition offense to pull away late and close out the sweep.

Defensively, the Beach totaled eight team blocks, led by Jackson Cryst with five block assists and one solo block. Long Beach State also finished with 10 service aces and committed just one reception error on the night.

With the victory, No. 2 Long Beach State remains unbeaten both in matches and sets as the Beach continue their early-season momentum.
