Taft has two recipients of Kern County Council of Governments awards this year
Long-time Taft physician Dr. Vibul Tangpraphaphorn and Chief of Police Damon McMinn are receiving Regional Awards of Merit.
Tang is receiving the Ronald E. Brummett Award for Lifetime Achievement by a private citizen. Tang has served the community for almost 50 years.
McMinn is one of three recipients for the Darrel Hildebrand Regional Award of Merit for Distinguished Leadership.
McMinn has been Taft’s Chief of Police since 2018.
The awards will be presented at a ceremony on March 5 at Seven Oaks Country Club in Bakersfield.
The event includes no-host cocktails and dinner at 5:30 p.m. followed by the awards at 6 p.m.
