BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — The man accused of shooting and killing a 40-year-old man in Oildale earlier this month appeared in court on Wednesday morning, pleadin gnot guilty.

Jonathan Fraze is charged with first-degree murder and stalking.
The incident happened at around 2:37 a.m., on Jan. 2, 2026, when sheriff’s deputies were called to the 100 block of East Warren Avenue.
There, they found John Duval Jr, 40, shot; he later died from his injuries.
Fraze is scheduled to return to court on March 10.
