An injury that occurred during the San Francisco 49ers’ playoff win against the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday has created an opportunity for a former Lancaster-Lebanon League great.
Warwick grad Hayden Rucci was signed to San Francisco’s practice squad Wednesday. The 49ers will take on the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC divisional playoffs Saturday.
Tight end George Kittle suffered an Achilles injury in the second quarter against the Eagles. Rucci, who also plays tight end, was brought in to help with practice this week. It’s unclear if he’ll be activated for the game.
The season has been an adventure for Rucci, who made his NFL debut with the Miami Dolphins in Week 8, was claimed by the Detroit Lions on waivers last month, and then returned to the Dolphins.
The 6-foot-5, 247-pound Wisconsin grad originally signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2024. He was an All-State selection at Warwick.
