Long Beach 9th District Councilmember Dr. Joni Ricks-Oddie invites residents and community members to the 2026 State of the District address on Saturday, Feb. 7. at Houghton Park (6301 Myrtle Ave.). 

The annual address will offer a comprehensive look at the milestones achieved last year and lay out a roadmap for priorities shaping the future of North Long Beach. Joined by City leadership from the Public Works,  Economic Development and Health Departments. 

Ricks-Oddie will provide updates on critical issues including economic development, housing, parks and infrastructure improvements, public health, neighborhood safety and beautification. The presentation will also highlight major projects completed over the past year, initiatives currently underway and a forward-looking vision for continued growth and revitalization throughout the district.

“North Long Beach is in the midst of unprecedented transformation,” said Ricks-Oddie in a public statement. “We have spent the last few years turning plans into progress and I am eager to share how our strategic investments are delivering the tangible results North Long Beach families deserve. I invite everyone to join us as we celebrate and set the stage for what is to come.”

Check-in will begin at 9:30 a.m, with the event going until. noon. The State of the District is free and open to the public, and a light meal to be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
