The Anaheim Ducks acquired forward Jeffrey Viel from the Boston Bruins on Friday in exchange for a fourth-round pick in this year’s draft.
The pick transferred will be the earlier of Anaheim’s two fourth-round selections, originally acquired from Detroit and Philadelphia.
Viel, 28, is without a point in 10 games with the Bruins this season.
Undrafted in the NHL, Viel has appeared in 64 career NHL games with Boston and San Jose Sharks, tallying three goals and two assists for five points.
The Rimouski, Quebec native was originally signed by San Jose as a free agent in 2019.
After making the trade, the Bruins recalled defenceman Billy Sweezey from the AHL’s Providence Bruins on an emergency basis.
