Visitors to California state parks and beaches can park their cars for free on Martin Luther King Day, California State Parks announced Friday.
One passenger vehicle with the capacity of nine people or less can enter more than 200 participating state parks for free on Monday, Jan. 19.
The park system said the free vehicle entry was made possible by the California State Parks Foundation, which is also behind the California State Library Parks Pass program that allows library card holders in California to borrow a free car pass to state parks.
Some parks that require tour fees, such as Heart Castle are not participating in the MLK Day event and may still require a fee.
