Thick fog forced the Fresno Yosemite International Airport to ground flights until further notice on Friday evening.

“Due to forcasted weather conditions, Fresno Yosemite International Airport is experiencing flight delays/cancellations. Please check with your airline for flight status updates,” the airport wrote on its social media.

According to FlightAware, there have been eight flight cancellations at Fresno Yosemite International Airport and eight within or into the airport.

The resumption of flights is currently unknown.

Emily Wilson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Hanford office, told The Bee that fog will remain every morning through the end of next week.

Wilson said an area of high pressure is keeping the conditions stable and preventing breakage in weather patterns. Fog may even linger into the afternoon in some parts of the Valley, Wilson said.
