The two teams faced off in the final week of the regular season for the No. 1 spot in the NFC heading into the playoffs. The Seahawks’ defense dominated the 49ers’ offense in the team’s 13-3 victory to secure the top seed and earn a first-round bye and home field advantage.

Following their loss, the 49ers dropped to the No. 6 seed, which set up a wild card matchup on the road with the Philadelphia Eagles last week. They earned a narrow 23-19 victory thanks to a Brock Purdy touchdown pass to Christian McCaffrey with just under three minutes left to advance to the divisional round and earn the chance to avenge the loss to their divisional rival.
