FRESNO, Calif.—Darcy Spark and Rose Jensen scored four goals in the first two matches of the season as the No. 12 San José State women’s water polo team opened the 2026 season Saturday at the Polopalooza hosted by Fresno State.

In the first match of the day, the Spartans fell to No. 8 UC Irvine, 15-7. Spark scored a goal in the first three quarters of the match. Jensen added goals in the second and third quarters. Nynke Willemsen and Sarah Woren each had a goal. Goalie Tatianna Raffin made five saves in the match.

San José State then faced No. 4 Hawaii in the second match on Saturday. The Spartans held the Rainbow Wahine to just one goal in the first and fourth quarters. Isabella Adams and Jensen each scored twice in the match, while Spark and Emma Ruzic tallied a goal. Raffin made seven saves, while freshman Larke Eslinger made three saves in her first collegiate appearance.

UP NEXT – The Spartans finish play at the Polopalooza on Sunday with a match against No. 7 Fresno State at 11 a.m.
