HOLLYWOOD, CA — The Hollywood Walk of Fame was recently named the No. 1 worst tourist attraction in the world, according to a new ranking.

That doesn’t stop millions of people from making the trek every year. While the Walk of Fame with it’s celebration of celebrity and human spectacle of street performers, vendors and crowds, tops the list, several other Golden State draws have the dubious distinction of cracking the top 10 list of the nation’s worst tourist attractions.

Stasher, a travel company specializing in luggage storage, conducted an analysis of 101 the world’s most popular tourist destinations to come up with its list of the World’s Best and Worst Tourist Attractions.

The company determined which attractions live up to the hype — and which ones simply fall short — by crunching numbers from Google Review rankings, TikTok engagement, airport accessibility, safety and the quality of local accommodations.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame topped the list of “10 tourist traps that just aren’t worth it.” With a Google Review rating of just four stars, the famous boulevard was by far the lowest-rated attraction on the list.

The Dead Sea was ranked at No. 2, the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul No. 3 and the Great Wall of China came in at No. 4. The Walk of Fame was the only American attraction to make the list.

Completed in 1961, the Walk of Fame initially featured 1,558 stars with celebrities names on Tinseltown’s sidewalks. Since then, the attraction has added over 1,000 new stars to the sidewalks on Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street.

As of 2010, the Walk of Fame attracted an estimated 10 million visitors annually, according to the Los Angeles Times.

In the United States, Stasher ranks the Space Needle in Seattle as the second worst attraction, and, in California, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island and Yosemite National Park also made the top ten list.
