ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Rays reshaped their roster on Friday, executing a three-team trade involving the Los Angeles Angels and Cincinnati Reds that sends outfielder Josh Lowe to Anaheim.
In exchange for the speedy outfielder, the Rays acquired versatile infielder Gavin Lux and right-handed pitching prospect Chris Clark. The deal also sees the Angels sending left-hander Brock Burke to Cincinnati to complete the circuit.
The move ends Lowe’s five-year tenure with Tampa Bay. Selected 13th overall in the 2016 draft, the 27-year-old was a fixture in the Rays’ lineup, slashing .250/.306/.414 over 403 career games. His speed was his defining trait; Lowe leaves the organization ranked ninth in franchise history with 79 stolen bases.

Coming back to Florida is Gavin Lux, who spent the 2025 season revitalizing his career with the Reds. The 28-year-old set career highs across the board last year, playing in 140 games and tallying 28 doubles and 53 RBIs. Lux posted a .350 on-base percentage—also a career best—while bouncing around the diamond.
Although primarily a middle infielder earlier in his career with the Dodgers, he made nearly 50 starts in left field for Cincinnati last season, offering the Rays the kind of positional flexibility they historically covet.
Lux, originally a first-round pick by the Dodgers in 2016, enters Tampa Bay with a career .256 batting average over six major league seasons.
On the pitching side, the Rays add 24-year-old Chris Clark, a towering 6-foot-4 right-hander drafted out of Harvard in 2023. Clark spent 2025 climbing the Angels’ minor league system, reaching Double-A Rocket City.
While his headline ERA sat at 4.73 over 28 appearances, his underlying metrics showed promise. He struck out 153 batters in 144.2 innings and finished the year on a tear, posting a 2.40 ERA over his final nine outings.
