Authorities have publicly identified three people killed over the past week in San Diego County traffic crashes.
The most recent of the fatalities occurred Saturday. Shortly before 6 p.m., 55-year-old Kevin King lost control of the 2020 Harley Davidson Road-Glide motorcycle he was riding while heading east on El Monte Road, about a mile northeast of Lake Jennings in his hometown of Lakeside, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office and the California Highway Patrol.
The motorcycle veered off the roadway and crashed into a metal utility pole. King was knocked off the motorcycle and tumbled into a wooden fence, CHP public affairs Officer Jasmine Lopez said. He died at the site of the crash.
A 33-year-old woman was killed in a crash on a rural road in East County two days earlier. Tiffani Morgan of Lakeside was heading east on Skyline Truck Trail in Jamul about 3:30 p.m. Thursday when the 2012 BMW X5 SUV she was driving veered off the roadway near Castle Peak Lane, overturned and rolled side over side down an embankment, according to the medical examiner and CHP.
Morgan died at the scene.
A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision with an on-duty firefighter’s personal pickup in front of Cal Fire Station 30 in Dulzura. Gerardo Torres Cano was riding a 2021 Yamaha to the west on state Route 94 when the truck’s driver turned left in his path about 8:30 a.m. Jan. 7, authorities said.
