About one year after the Cincinnati Reds traded minor-leaguer Mike Sirota and a draft pick to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Gavin Lux, the Reds sent Lux to the Tampa Bay Rays in a three-team deal.
Lux, who batted .269 with five home runs and 53 RBIs in his only season with the Reds, spent the evening of Jan. 15 at the P&G MLB Cincinnati Reds Youth Academy, joining outfielder Rece Hinds in throwing batting practice and signing autographs for young Cincinnati-area players.

Moments later, Lux found out he was headed to the American League for the first time in his MLB career.
Tampabay.com’s Marc Topkin wrote that the Rays “believe Lux will benefit from knowing he was acquired to play second base.”
The Reds received left-handed pitcher Brock Burke in the Lux trade.
The Angels received outfielder Josh Lowe, selected by the Rays seven picks before the Dodgers took Lux in the first round of the 2016 MLB draft, in the deal.

Gavin Lux spent the 2025 season with the Reds.
