(FOX40.COM) — A man was pronounced dead after a crash on Interstate 5 in Sacramento on Monday evening.

Around 5 p.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a car crash. Officers said a man in his 30s was traveling northbound on I-5 to eastbound I-80 when, for unknown reasons, he traveled off the roadway.

Subsequently, the man crashed into a tree. According to CHP, the driver was the only person in the vehicle and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
