BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Marathon is a little over two months away, and if you’re thinking of signing up, you may want to do it soon. There will be another price increase on Jan. 21.

The 9th annual race is running through Bakersfield on March 22. It includes a half marathon, 10K, and 6K races starting at the Kern County Museum and winding through Downtown.

The Bakersfield Marathon is also a Boston Marathon-qualifying race. Click here to sign up for the marathon.

To get 17% off your entry fee, just enter the code, “KGET17.” That code will be valid through race day. Race organizers say registration is up 80% in comparison to this time last year.

If you’d like to volunteer, Active Bakersfield Alliance is looking for people to do just that. They need around 700 volunteers for the marathon to monitor the course for safety, distribute water and Gatorade, assist runners with their personal belongings and they even need medical personnel to volunteer.
