ROCHESTER, Mich. – The OU Men’s Basketball Team is back in Michigan and is set to host the IU Indianapolis Jaguars on the Blacktop on Wednesday, Jan. 21 for Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night in the OU Credit Union O’rena.
The Golden Grizzlies (11-9, 7-2 HL) secured an 88-63 victory over Green Bay inside the Kress Center on Sunday in a battle for second-place standings in the league.
Fifth-year Tuburu Naivalurua led the team with 26 points, a new career high in his three seasons for the Black and Gold, and recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds. Notably, this marked his second consecutive game collecting double-digit boards. Junior Isaac Garrett contributed significantly with 17 points and matched Naivalurua with 10 rebounds. as senior Ziare Wells scored 14 points and excelled defensively, picking up three steals. Senior Brody Robinson facilitated the offense, adding 10 points and dishing out five assists, continuing his streak of double-digit points in five consecutive games.
After their sweep of both Wisconsin Horizon League teams last weekend, Oakland jumped positively in the NET rankings and KenPom.com ratings. Oakland is sitting at a 110 NET ranking, marking their lowest stop since 99 during week six of the 2023-24 season. The Golden Grizzlies jumped up to 109 (+5.82 NetRtg) in overall KenPom scores, above Wright State (131) and Northern Kentucky (169) in the Horizon League. OU is nearing a top-50 offense this season, with a KenPom offensive rating of 119.0, marking them 60th in Division I.

SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
First-year head coach Ben Howlett and the IU Indy Jaguars are sitting at the bottom of the Horizon League totem poll, posting an overall 5-16 record, and 1-9 mark in the league. The lone Horizon League win for Howlett occurred at home with a 96-93 overtime defeat of Robert Morris. The Jaguars look to get back on the winning side of the ledger following an 80-77 defeat to Detroit Mercy on Saturday. Junior Kyler D’Augustino continued a hot streak, finishing with 20 points, six assists and five rebounds for his seventh 20-point game in the past eight outings. D’Augustino leads the Horizon League in scoring in league games, tallying 21.2 points per game.
The Golden Grizzlies have taken charge of the all-time record with the Jaguars, leading the series 36-19, having won the past eight meetings – the longest streak of any Horizon League opponent for Oakland.
