A Southfield man facing a felony charge for allegedly driving with drugs and alcohol in his system and causing a traffic crash that killed a motorcyclist recently declined a preliminary exam and will be arraigned in Oakland County Circuit Court next week.

Paul Stuart Dickson, 55, is charged with operating while impaired causing death for the Sept. 25, 2025 incident on Eight Mile Road in Southfield. According to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office, Dickson failed to yield the right of way and pulled in front of motorcyclist Fernando Porter, who then collided with Dickson’s vehicle. Porter, 53, subsequently died from injuries sustained in the crash, the prosecutor’s office said.

Dickson was driving with a suspended license at the time, the prosecutor’s office said.

Operating while impaired causing death is punishable by up to 15 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000.

Dickson is out of custody on a personal bond, which requires no cash or surety to be posted. Arraignment in the higher court is scheduled for Jan. 28 before Judge Nanci Grant.
