Jacksonville State football will make a trip out west this football season.
The program announced on Wednesday that it will face off against San Jose State on Sept. 26, 2026, in San Jose, California. This will be the first part of a two-game series, with the Spartans traveling to Jacksonville on Sept. 22, 2035.
The two were originally set to play in the 2024 season, with San Jose State canceling the matchup to face a Power Four opponent; Jax State instead faced Louisville.
Jax State last made the trip to California in 1980, when the Gamecocks faced Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in the Division II playoffs.
The Gamecocks already have home matchups scheduled with FCS Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 5 and Georgia Southern on Sept. 12.
San Jose State went 3-9 overall and 2-6 in Mountain West Conference play last season, ending the year on a four-game losing skid. Jax State finished 9-5 with a win against Troy in the I4IS Salute to Veterans Bowl.
