A San Jose police officer was injured Wednesday after a shootout and a pursuit with an armed carjacking suspect, according to authorities. Police say the suspect is dead.
Police say it all started in Hollister at around 3 p.m. when a suspect stole a Corvette, abandoned it, and carjacked another vehicle.
There was a chase involving police as well as San Benito County Sheriff’s deputies — and a rolling gun fight.

The chase ended in downtown San Jose.
There is a massive police presence just off Highway 87 near Notre Dame Avenue and St. James.
The officer was taken to a local hospital, and remains in critical but stable condition.
