Brandon Aiyuk has not played a single game since tearing his ACL and MCL in Week 7 of the 2024 season. The next game he plays will certainly not be with the San Francisco 49ers.

General manager John Lynch made it very clear during his end-of-season press conference on Wednesday that Aiyuk is done in San Francisco.

“I think it’s safe to say he’s played his last snap as a Niner,” Lynch said.

Aiyuk didn’t suit up at all for the 49ers this season and wasn’t around the team much, either. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said in December that he hadn’t “seen him in forever,” adding that it had been a month since he last saw Aiyuk.

“It’s extremely unfortunate that it’s gotten to this point,” Shanahan said last month.

The 49ers signed Aiyuk to a four-year, $120 million contract in August of 2024. During training camp last summer, the 49ers voided Aiyuk’s guaranteed money for 2026 because he didn’t meet the requirements of his contract.

Aiyuk, a first-round pick in 2020, will finish his 49ers tenure with 294 catches, 4,305 yards and 25 touchdowns, with his best season coming in 2023 (75 catches, 1,342 yards).
