The final field for next week’s Farmers Insurance Open was released Friday afternoon, and the tournament at Torrey Pines features several familiar faces.
World No. 4 and native son Xander Schauffele heads the field, returning after missing last year’s event because of a rib injury. Schauffele is among three San Diego State alums in the field, along with No. 7 J.J. Spaun, the 2025 U.S. Open winner, and Justin Hastings, who received a sponsors exemption to make is Farmers debut.
The 147-player field includes 28 of the top 50 players in the world rankings, 10 major winners and seven former Farmers champions, including defending champion Harris English.
Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka will be making his return debut to the PGA after competing for LIV Golf the past three years.
Schauffele and Spaan are the two highest-ranked players in the field, followed by No. 10 Justin Rose, No. 11 English, No. 13 Alex Noren and No. 15 Hideki Matsuyama, No. 16 Keegan Bradley, No. 17 Chris Gotterup, No. 18 Ludvig Aberg and No. 20 Cameron Young.
The Farmers returns to the traditional Thursday through Sunday format for the first time in five years since it falls on the off week of the NFL playoffs. The tournament was scheduled Wednesday-Saturday from 2021-25 to avoid going head-to-head with the NFL conference championship games.
Players tackle both the North and South courses during the first two rounds before the field is trimmed for the final two rounds on the South. The winner receives $1,728,000 from the $9.6 million purse.
English heads a group of seven former Farmers champions in the field, along with Matthieu Pavon (2024), Max Homa (2023), Luke List (2022), Justin Rose (2019), Jason Day (2018, 2015) and Brandt Snedeker (2016, 2012).
Major winners in the field include Bradley, Day, Koepka, Matsuyama, Rose, Schauffele and Spaun, as well as Wyndham Clark, Adam Scott and Gary Woodland.
Joining the SDSU alums are San Diego products Charley Hoffman (Poway High School) and Michael Kim (Torrey Pines High).
Open spots still to be filled include a sponsors exemption for the winner of this weekend’s 36-hole APGA event at Torrey Pines and four players from Monday’s qualifier event.
