Looking forward to the California primary election, the 2026 Gubernatorial Debate will be aired live by KTVU FOX 2 and FOX 11

On February 3, FOX 11 will be hosting a gubernatorial debate in anticipation of the primary election this summer.

In collaboration with the Black Action Alliance and KTVU FOX 2, the debate will be held at the Ruth Williams Bay View Opera House in San Francisco. The building, which survived the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and was designated a California Point of Historical Interest in 1968, has seen the state of California through the years. It will now serve as the venue for this monumental occasion, where candidates will contend to be California’s next governor.

To be broadcast across both Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area, the debate will be hosted by KTVU FOX 2 political reporter Greg Lee, anchor Andre Senior, and FOX 11 anchor Marla Tellez. Co-hosting the event, the Black Action Alliance, 100 Black Men of the Bay Area and the Oakland branch of the NAACP will join these reporters.

Candidates participating in the debate will include:

Antonio Villaraigosa, former Los Angeles mayor

Betty Yee, former California state controller

Eric Swalwell, U.S. representative for California’s 14th congressional district

Steve Hilton, political commentator and former political adviser

Tom Steyer, billionaire and entrepreneur

Tony Thurmond, California’s state superintendent of public instruction

The 2026 Gubernatorial Debate will be broadcast live on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Angelenos can watch this debate via FOX 11 (Los Angeles) and the FOX LOCAL Streaming App.
