CAMPBELL, CA — A Campbell man on probation for domestic violence was arrested this week after authorities discovered a 3D printing operation manufacturing ghost guns and machine gun conversion parts, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office announced Friday.
Alfred Amaya, 28, faces more than 30 felony charges, including possession and manufacturing of machine guns, felony firearm possession, and child endangerment. Investigators said they found loaded weapons, 35 conversion devices, and a 3D printer actively producing gun parts inside his apartment, which he shared with two young children, prosecutors said.
District Attorney Jeff Rosen said the arrest dismantled “a busy criminal ghost machine gun factory in the middle of an apartment building.”
The operation was part of a countywide domestic violence probation sweep during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
