(FOX40.COM) — A woman is dead and a man is injured after a two-vehicle crash in West Sacramento on Sunday evening.

According to the West Sacramento Police Department, the crash occurred on West Capitol Avenue near the Enterprise exit. A 32-year-old woman from Davis was transported to the hospital and later died from her injuries.

WSPD reported the driver, who is a 29-year-old man from West Sacramento, was transported to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, where he remains in stable condition.

Police said both eastbound and westbound lanes of West Capitol Avenue are expected to be closed in the area for the next two hours as the department’s Traffic Unit investigates the scene.

WSPD is asking commuters to avoid the area at this time and to use alternate routes.

“Our sincere condolences go out to the victim’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” WSPD said.
