BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A 25-year-old woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle on South Union Avenue on Jan. 12 has been identified as Wendy Rose Wilson of Bakersfield, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.

The incident happened at around 6:13 a.m. in the 5300 block of South Union Avenue. Wilson was declared dead at 6:39 a.m, said the coroner.

The California Highway Patrol reported that officers responded to the crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at around 6:17 a.m.

An investigation revealed that a 68-year-old man was driving a 2012 Toyota Yaris southbound when Wilson entered the roadway outside of a crosswalk and into the path of the vehicle. The Toyota struck Wilson, causing severe injuries.

Emergency medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
