BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — The man accused of driving under the influence and crashing into bystanders during the 2023 Bakersfield Christmas Parade was found guilty on Tuesday in an unrelated DUI misdemeanor case, according to Kern County court records.

Alan Booth, 74, was found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving on a suspended license from April 2024.

On April 17, 2024, Booth was found in a vehicle under the influence at Jim Burke Ford on Oak Street. He was arrested shortly after he committed other traffic-related violations, said Bakersfield police.

He is set to be sentenced on Thursday, court records show.

Now that this trial has concluded, the felony case against Booth regarding the 2023 Bakersfield Christmas Parade can begin, which could start next week at the earliest, court records show.

Court documents revealed that Booths’ alcohol level was at .252% – about 3 times the legal limit following the Christmas Parade crash.
