Two male juveniles on a dirt bike were injured after crashing into a vehicle on Tuesday near an elementary school in Orangevale, the California Highway Patrol’s East Sacramento division said.The children were not wearing helmets when they hit the rear of a Toyota 4Runner that was making a turn into the parking lot at Trajan Elementary School, CHP said. Both juveniles were ejected and later taken to hospitals with possible critical injuries. CHP said there were reports that the 16-year-old driver of the bike was riding recklessly before the crash. Drugs or alcohol may also have been a factor, CHP said. “Trajan Elementary School students and staff were not involved in this accident, and it didn’t occur on school grounds,” the San Juan Unified School District said in a statement. “We’re not aware of any additional details or who might have been involved.”This story is developing.
