A man told police that he was bound with tape inside his car by an armed robber in a jewelry heist Tuesday night at a parking structure near Los Angeles International Airport.

Los Angeles police told NBC4 Investigates that the man called the department at about 8 p.m. to report the robbery involving about $400,000 worth of jewelry. The man was inside his car in Joe’s Airport Parking when a masked gunman approached, pepper-sprayed him and then taped him up, possibly with duct tape.

After the robbery left, another person heard the victim — identified as a man in his 50s — when he honked his car horn for help.

No arrests were reported Wednesday morning.

The man suffered injuries that are no considered life-threatening.
