Fresno Unified employees call on district for transparency

Classified workers are calling on Fresno Unified to improve working conditions and create better outcomes for students.

Members of the SEIU Local 521 union gathered in solidarity on Wednesday.

The union represents school bus drivers, cafeteria workers and grounds and maintenance teams.

They say the District is *not* prioritizing workplace health and safety.

Union members are also calling for better wages.

Fresno Unified responded to the claims saying in part negotiations are underway, but the talks are confidential.

The district added staffing levels declined due to reduced enrollment after the pandemic and a decrease in state funding.
