Officials with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) said Wednesday they decided to re-assign buses with the posters from the “Melania” documentary to different areas over vandalism concerns.

Before the documentary film about the first lady was set to be released at the end of January, the advertisement posters were placed at bus stops across Los Angeles.

But after many of the posters and bus stop signs were vandalized with graffiti and expletives, LA Metro officials said it had to stay ahead of potential vandalism on the vehicles.

“After seeing significant vandalism at city bus stops on advertising for the Melania movie, Metro proactively reassigned some of the buses containing that advertising to other geographic areas to minimize potential vandalism,” the transportation agency told NBC Los Angeles Wednesday.

The vandalized bus stops were city-operated and do not belong to LA Metro, officials said.

LA Metro said the buses were operating under normal schedule.

The “Melania” documentary, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, was set to be officially released on Jan. 30. After the theatric run, it was expected to be made available on Amazon Prime Video.
