Mino Ohye, a veteran from West Sacramento, recently celebrated his 100th birthday, marking a life of survival and sacrifice. Ohye joined the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II at the age of 13. After Japan’s surrender, he was captured and sent to a Siberian prison camp. Years later, he moved to Northern California, where he was drafted into the U.S. Army, making him one of the few individuals to have served in the military of two countries.Ohye continues to serve his senior living community in different ways.
