A 26-year-old man was behind bars Thursday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a customer at a business inside the MainPlace Mall in Santa Ana.
Jermi Gerardo Characoto Caraballo was arrested Wednesday and booked on suspicion of sexual assault, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.
He was accused of attacking a 44-year-old woman on Jan. 15.
The woman contacted police about 9 p.m. that day and reported that while purchasing facial cream at a mall business, she was offered a free facial, police said. During the facial and massage, the suspect sexually assaulted her, police alleged.
The woman later drove to the police station to report the alleged assault, police said.
