The police in Anaheim, Calif. said that a man was arrested after a collision that occurred on at around 12:10 a.m. local time on Jan. 25 left a pregnant woman dead

A woman and her unborn child were killed in a fatal crash allegedly caused by another driver who had been under the influence.
The Anaheim Police Department announced via press release that a man was arrested in connection to a collision that occurred at the intersection of North Anaheim Boulevard and the SR-91 freeway at around 12:10 a.m. local time on Sunday, Jan. 25.
The pregnant woman was a passenger in a “light-colored Toyota four-door sedan” and was “trapped inside” the vehicle after the accident. Despite life saving measures, she was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
Police arrested Daniel Ramos, 24, who had been the driver of a dark-colored Lexus sedan that was also involved in the crash, after he allegedly “exhibited objective signs and symptoms of impairment,” according to the release.
“Preliminary investigation indicates the Toyota was traveling southbound on North Anaheim Boulevard and entered the intersection when it was struck by the Lexus, which was traveling eastbound on the SR-91 freeway frontage road and failed to stop for a red traffic signal,” police said.

Ramos was booked into the Anaheim Detention Facility on felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges. However, police said that additional charges may be forthcoming pending the outcome of the investigation, as the passenger had been pregnant at the time she was killed.
The Anaheim Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment and update on the case.
The woman was identified by loved ones as 24-year-old Bianca Esquivel, according to NBC LA, KABC and CBS News.
Her boyfriend, identified by KABC as Oscar, noted to the outlets that she was pregnant with her second child and they had just left In-N-Out after satisfying her cravings when the collision occurred.
“We were laughing on the way back, we were just smiling. It was so fast. She screamed, she was like, ‘Oh my god,’ ” Oscar recalled to KABC of the incident.
“She was my best friend,” he added of his girlfriend. “We were so excited. We were already planning stuff, buying clothes.”
The family started a GoFundMe to raise funds for medical expenses for her boyfriend and funeral arrangements. On the site, her family described her as “a devoted mother, a beloved sister and daughter, and a caring girlfriend” who was planning to “return to school to pursue a degree in accounting and had her entire life ahead of her.”
Bianca’s sister, Viri Esquivel, also described the woman to KABC as a homebody who loved spending time with her family. She said that her sister leaves behind a 4-year-old son.

“I personally don’t know how to answer, ‘Where’s my mommy?’ Because his mommy isn’t coming back,” she told the outlet.
The Anaheim Police Department said its traffic investigators were “continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision” and that any criminal charges would be presented to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for review and filing consideration.
