THIS IS HAPPENING AT RESPONSE ROAD AND CHALLENGE WAY IN SACRAMENTO. AND KCRA 3’S PEYTON HEADLEE JUST GOT TO THE SCENE. WE CAN SEE THE TAPE UP BEHIND YOU WITH THE POLICE UNITS. PEYTON, WHAT DO YOU KNOW? YEAH. WELL, THE UPDATE FROM SACRAMENTO POLICE. IS THAT ALL OFFICERS INVOLVED ARE OKAY. WE ARE WAITING ON AN UPDATE FOR THE SUSPECT WHO WAS INVOLVED HERE. SO I’LL STEP AWAY AND GIVE YOU A LOOK AT THIS STRETCH OF EXPOSITION BOULEVARD. IT’S A MASSIVE SCENE THAT SACRAMENTO POLICE OFFICERS HAVE TAPED OFF HERE. BUT YOU CAN SEE THE MAJORITY OF THE ACTION WHERE THEY ARE FOCUSED IS JUST PAST CHALLENGE WAY HERE ON EXPOSITION BOULEVARD, IN THE EASTBOUND LANES, THERE ARE TWO CARS, TWO WHITE CARS THAT WE’VE SEEN OFFICERS KIND OF GOING THROUGH LOOKING IN THE FRONT AND THE BACK DOORS, ONE OF THEM, A CAR, IS BLOCKING OFF AND ON THE GROUND. YOU CAN SEE A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT EVIDENCE MARKERS. AND OF COURSE, JUST A MASSIVE RESPONSE FROM THE SACRAMENTO POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE INFORMATION THEY JUST PUT OUT IN A TWEET NOT TWO MINUTES AGO. THEY SAID OFFICERS WERE INVOLVED IN A SHOOTING WHILE RESPONDING TO A BANK ROBBERY THAT WAS IN THE 1600 BLOCK OF RESPONSE ROAD, SO NOT FAR FROM WHERE WE ARE RIGHT NOW. THEY SAY ALL OFFICERS ARE PHYSICALLY OKAY AND THEY ARE WAITING ON AN INJURY UPDATE ON THE SUSPECT. THEY’RE ASKING PEOPLE TO AVOID THE AREA. SO STILL A LOT OF QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW MANY OFFICERS WERE INVOLVED, HOW MANY SHOTS WERE FIRED, WHAT BANK THEY MAY HAVE BEEN AT. OF COURSE, WE KNOW THAT THE OFFICERS ARE OKAY. Sacramento police officers were involved in a shooting while responding to a bank robbery on Thursday, the law enforcement agency said. Officials said the shooting happened near the intersection of Response Road and Heritage Lane. Sacramento police said its officers were physically unharmed. Officials have not said if anyone else was hurt in the shooting. KCRA 3’s Peyton Headlee was at the scene, where the intersection of Exposition Boulevard and Challenge Way was blocked off by crime scene tape.
