A 26-year-old man was charged Friday with sexually assaulting a customer at a business inside the MainPlace Mall in Santa Ana.
Jermi Gerardo Characoto Caraballo was charged with two counts of sexual battery by fraud and a count of oral copulation of an unconscious person, all felonies.
He was accused of attacking a 44-year-old woman on Jan. 15, Santa Ana police reported.
The woman contacted police about 9 p.m. that day and reported that while purchasing facial cream at a mall business, she was offered a free facial, police said. Caraballo — an employee of the store — performed the facial, during which, he sexually assaulted her, police claimed. A further explanation of the incident was not provided.
The woman later drove to the police station to report the alleged assault, police said.
