Coast cities hold donation drive for town affected by winter storm

GULF COAST, Miss. (WLOX) – The cities of Gulfport, D’Iberville, and Long Beach are holding a donation drive to help the town of Coldwater, Mississippi after it was hit by a major winter storm earlier this week.

The cities announced Friday that they will accept donations until Sunday evening.

According to a Friday Facebook post from the Gulfport mayor’s office, the small town of 1,300 lost one of its wells during the storm. It also has no local grocery store and 70% of residents are elderly or disabled.

The following items have been requested for donation:

Bottled waterBlanketsNew portable electric heatersHygiene products Bread Canned goods

Donations can be dropped off at any Gulfport fire station. You can also donate at the following locations:

Long Beach Central Fire Station645 Klondyke Rd., Long Beach, MS 39560D’Iberville Fire Department

Donations will be delivered to Coldwater on Monday.
