LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Women’s Golf will begin the spring portion of their season with a single-day competition, taking on San Diego State in a dual match at The Grand Golf Club in San Diego on Sunday, February 1.
Long Beach State will send six golfers to compete in the event to begin the year, with all six competing against the Aztec roster. The Beach had two student-athletes depart the program following the fall semester, while Olivia Chappell will be redshirting during her first year at Long Beach State.
For Long Beach State, three veteran players were very close in stroke average to lead the team in the fall. Junior transfer Emma Kang has the team’s low average this season at 74.2, with senior Madison Le and junior Erin Lee just behind at 74.3 and 74.4 respectively, as the three upperclassmen will look to lead the team on Sunday.
Another transfer, Alyson Sor, competed in all five tournaments in the fall, with a Top-20 finish at the Molly Collegiate Invitational. The four upperclassmen will be joined in the spring by two freshmen in Chloe Park and Kailey Yoon. Yoon competed in five tournaments while Chloe Park played in four in the fall for Long Beach State.
Kang will lead the lineup, followed by Yoon, Le, Lee and Park, with Sor playing as an individual for the dual.
Long Beach State won the dual last season between the teams by three strokes from The Farms Golf Club. Results following the day’s action will be found at www.longbeachstate.com.
