Two of Southern California’s most dominant girls basketball programs will square off today when nationally-ranked Mater Dei travels to face Ventura in a nonleague clash at Tuttle Gym. Both teams enter with identical 22-4 records and red-hot winning streaks.
The Monarchs have been unstoppable under second-year head coach Jody Wynn, rattling off 13 consecutive victories behind a veteran core. Seniors Noelle Mulvanny and Kaeli Wynn have anchored Mater Dei’s surge alongside junior Harmony Golightly.
Ventura brings its own momentum into the matchup, riding an 11-game winning streak under head coach Ann Larson. The Cougars’ senior-laden roster features Kai Staniland, Abby Golden, Kaiya Cooke and Ava Ortman.
Opening tipoff is set for 3:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, January 31 with a live TV broadcast on NFHS Network.
