16 displaced after fire in Forest Park

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Just after 1 p.m. on Saturday, the Springfield Fire Department responded to a call for an apartment fire at 109 Oakland Street in Forest Park.

Western Mass News was on scene and spotted a heavy presence of first responders trying to battle the fire in the freezing temperatures.

We reached out to Springfield Fire Department spokesperson Drew Piemonte, who said they were battling a 3 alarm fire. A total of 16 people have been displaced as a result of the fire and are currently being assisted by the Red Cross.

There were no injuries as a result of battling the blaze. The cause of the fire and further details are unknown at this time.
