History

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Despite a solid performance for the bench, the University of San Francisco women’s basketball team (13-9, 6-5) fell at Oregon State (17-6, 9-1) 75-53 Saturday afternoon at Gill Coliseum.

San Francisco struggled out of the gate, falling behind 23-14 at the end of the first quarter.
Oregon State continued to add to its lead at the start of the second quarter, pushing the margin to 11, 29-18, at 5:07. San Francisco responded shortly after, utilizing a 10-2 run to finish the half to trim the deficit to three, 31-28. Nataša Taušová highlighted the run as she knocked down a second-chance three-pointer to get the Dons to within 29-26 with 2:31 remaining.
The Dons’ deficit continued to grow after halftime, facing a 54-43 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter.
San Francisco failed to pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 75-53.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:


Reaching double-figure scoring for the first time this season, Olivia Williams scored 13 points on 85.7 percent (six-of-seven) shooting. Along with her scoring, Williams added five rebounds and one block.
Candy Edokpaigbe also added 13 points to help lead the green and gold while recording five rebounds, two assists, and one block.
As a team defensively, San Francisco recorded five blocks, the most in a game since totaling six at LMU on January 4. Along with Williams and Edokpaigbe, Noelia Mouriño, Nevaeh Ferrara Horne, and Taušová added a block apiece.

San Francisco continues its two-game road trip next week when it travels to take on Seattle U at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, at Redhawk Center.
