A pedestrian ramps project along Pacific Avenue in Solana Beach was completed with funding from the Community Development Block Grant.
The Solana Beach City Council approved a resolution Jan. 28 declaring the project finished at a cost of $39,000 out of $52,132 that the city had available from the grant. The unused $13,132 will be reallocated by the county to a future city project, according to a council agenda report.
“These improvements are a component of the City’s ongoing commitment to address accessibility barriers and meet federal and state accessibility requirements,” according to the agenda report.
The ramps were installed along Pacific Avenue at the intersections of Ocean Street, Solana Vista Drive, West Cliff Street and Hill Street, and completed by PAL General Engineering in coordination with the approved plans and the city engineer.
The Solana Beach City Council awarded the construction contract last July.
“The City continues to advance projects that enhance walkability across neighborhoods and major corridors,” according to the council agenda report. “The ADA Pedestrian Ramp Project is included in the Capital Improvement Plan and to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and to enhance safe access within the public right-of-way.”
